Advokids' Mission Statement.
70,000 children live in foster care in California.
Files Many children cycle through the foster care system...
 ...and experience multiple placements.
Infants and babies are the largest group to
enter, remain, and re-enter the foster care system.
50% of children --3 years old
                experience multiple foster care placements.
Multiple foster care placements present a host of traumas for very young children.
Babies grieve when their relationships are disrupted and this sadness adversely affects their brain development.
Although foster care was designed to be a temporary solution...
...nearly half (45%) of children have been in foster care for more than 2 years.
Those who are adopted still spend an average of 30.6 months in foster care.
Those who "age out" of foster care, or are never adopted, do not fare well.
How can we do better?
The juvenile court is ultimately responsible for the well-being of every foster child.
Advokids’ legal services promote and facilitate child-focused advocacy...
...making sure that issues affecting a child’s physical safety, security and
emotional health are considered by the judge.
Providing access to the juvenile court allows for transparency and improves accountability.
Accountability keeps our infants and children in foster care safer
                and improves their permanency outcomes.
When children are placed in foster care, their world is forever changed.
Help Advokids secure their future.
