California laws and Rules of Court have expanded to promote foster parent and relative caregiver notice of hearings and the right to participate. Our new laws regarding “Prospective Adoptive Parent Status” also allow greater participation by foster parents, and promote early stable placements for our children in care. Armed with a working knowledge of our Juvenile Court laws, caregivers can advocate for stability and effect critical changes in our foster care system.
The Juvenile Court is ultimately responsible for the safety and welfare of every foster child. This includes their need for permanency.
